A Poplar Bluff man was shot after climbing through a women’s window

POPLAR BLUFF, Mo. (KBSI) – A man was shot after allegedly trying to climb through a women’s window.

According to the Poplar Bluff Police Department on October 12th, 2024, at 5:50am, officers responded to a residence in the 600 block of Victor Street in reference to a shooting.

Officers arrived and found the resident of the home, who indicated she shot at a man as he entered her bedroom window.

Officers conducted a search and located the suspect about a block away, who was identified as Rondriguez Hopkins age 24 of Poplar Bluff.

Hopkins was found to have a gunshot wound to his shoulder and his hand. Hopkins was transported to a Poplar Bluff hospital for treatment, before being transferred to a Cape Girardeau hospital.

At this time, no charges are being sought against the resident of the home.

Upon his release from treatment, Hopkins was taken into custody and taken back to Poplar Bluff.

He was later taken to the Butler County Justice Center pending the formal filing of charges.
