Alzheimer’s research event set for May 13 in Cape Girardeau

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., (KBSI) — The Alzheimer’s Association will host a community event highlighting new advances in Alzheimer’s and dementia research on May 13.

The event, scheduled from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the Osage Centre, is free and open to the public.

Dr. Beau Ances, a neurologist and researcher at Washington University in St. Louis, will lead the discussion. Topics will include advances in Alzheimer’s and dementia research, early detection through biomarkers, treatment developments and risk reduction strategies.

Ances will also discuss his research involving people with Down syndrome and how those findings are contributing to broader understanding of dementia.
