Authorities investigating Herrin house fire

HERRIN, Ill. (KBSI) – A house fire is under investigation after a home in Herrin caught fire Wednesday morning.

Herrin firefighters responded to a house fire at 10:35 a.m. on May 1.

Herrin Fire Chief Priddy says firefighters found fire coming through a window of one side of the house.

The home was under renovation.

Off duty personnel were called in to help fight the fire. Marion firefighters also responded with a fire truck.

Firefighters determined the fire extended into the attic.

They applied water from the outside, then transitioned to an interior attack.

The fire was brought under control.

Members of the Marion Fire Departmnet, Carterville Fire Department, United Medical Response, Herrin Police and dispatchers and Office of State Fire Marshal investigations assisted Herrin firefighters.

The fire is under investigation.
