Bardwell man facing murder, assault charges for 2023 death of daughter

CARLISLE COUNTY, Ky. (KBSI) – A Bardwell man faces murder and assault charges in connection with the death of his four-year-old daughter in 2023.

Lucas Shehorn faces murder, assault 1st degree and persistent felony offender charges.

Kentucky State Police presented a case to the Carlisle County Grand Jury on July 18.

The case was in reference to a two-vehicle crash that happened on May 21, 2023 at the intersection of US Highway 62 and KY Highway 307.

That crash resulted in the death of 4-year-old Bailey Brooke Shehorn. She was a passenger in a vehicle driven by her father, Lucas Shehorn.

Based upon the evidence presented to the Grand Jury, Shehorn was indicted.

Carlisle County Chief Deputy Ben Green found Shehorn at his home in the 100 block of Orchard Street in Bardwell around 6 p.m. on July 18.

He was arrested and taken to the Ballard County Jail.

The investigation is ongoing.
