Barks, Cotrell named March Athletes of the Month at Poplar Bluff High

POPLAR BLUFF, Mo., (KBSI) — The Mules Booster Club has named Landon Barks and Lynn Cotrell of Poplar Bluff High School as the March Athletes of the Month, sponsored by Academy Sports + Outdoors.
Barks, a sophomore golfer, has a stroke average of 35.8 for nine holes across 14 scored rounds. He won back-to-back individual medals at the Notre Dame Invitational and medaled at the Farmington Invitational.
In the classroom, Barks maintains straight A’s, according to his coach, Tyler Davis.
“Landon is a great athlete and a great person,” Davis said. “He shows up every day ready to improve himself and work on his game.”
Cotrell, a freshman track and field runner, won the 400-meter dash at the SEMO Open and took first place in the 300-meter hurdle and pole vault at the Barry Cody JV Invitational.
She ranks among the top in each of those categories at the state, sectional and district levels, while her grade point average ranks within the top 15 of her class.
“Lynn Cotrell is an outstanding freshman track athlete who excels both in the classroom and on the track,” said her coach, Elizabeth Lewis.
