MT. VERNON, Ill., (KBSI) — The City of Mt. Vernon says a boil water order has been lifted for portions of Fairfield Road and Tolle Lane.

The order was lifted at 11:30 a.m. March 13 for the following areas:

  • 509, 513 and 517 E. Fairfield Road
  • North Tolle Lane from E. Fairfield Road to 14340 N. Tolle Lane, the end of the city’s water service area.

Officials said the precautionary boil order had been issued due to maintenance on the water distribution system, which can cause pressure changes and disturb sediment in water mains.

Authorities said there was no confirmed contamination, and the order was lifted after water testing was completed.
