Burglary attempt on liquor store foiled by authorities
WILLIAMSON COUNTY, Ill., (KBSI) — A quick response by Williamson County Sheriff’s Office deputies thwarted a burglary attempt at a liquor store south of the Franklin County line.
Deputies arrived at Dr. Liquors, 18375 Route 37, just two minutes after receiving an alarm call at 5:10 a.m. Tuesday. They found that the suspect had made forced entry by throwing a brick through the front glass door.
“The deputies’ rapid response caught the suspect off guard,” Sheriff Jeff Diederich said.
Video surveillance showed the suspect entering the business and attempting to access gaming machines with a crowbar. However, the suspect was slowed down by the machines’ secure cash access panels and fled moments before deputies arrived.
Investigators are collecting evidence and seeking the public’s help in identifying the suspect. Anyone with information can contact the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office at 618-997-6541 or submit a tip through the sheriff’s app, which allows users to remain anonymous.
