Caldwell County Sheriff’s deputies warn of phone scam

CALDWELL COUNTY, Ky. (KBSI) – Caldwell County Sheriff’s deputies are warning the public of scammers calling and saying to the person who answers the phone that he/she needs to pay $2000 if he/she missed showing up to court.
Sheriff’s deputies say this is a scam to get money from the person receiving the call.
The sheriff’s office does not call people to inform them they missed court.
Anyone who fails to appear for a court date will have a warrant.
Sheriff’s deputies do not call people to inform them of the warrant nor do they ask for them to pay money.
Anyone who is on the current jury list is asked to not fall prey to this scam.
The Circuit Court Clerk’s office has been made aware of this attempt to scam people.
The attorney general’s scam number is 888-432-9257.
Anyone who received a call of any scam content is asked to report it there or visit the attorney general’s website.
