Cape Girardeau City Council to consider American Airlines contract for Cape Regional Airport

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., (KBSI) — The Cape Girardeau City Council will consider a resolution Wednesday authorizing the city manager to recommend American Airlines for air carrier service at the Cape Girardeau Regional Airport.

The airport advisory board and airport management recommend selecting American Airlines for a two-year contract, pending approval from the U.S. Department of Transportation.

American Airlines proposed six round-trip flights to Dallas-Fort Worth and six round-trip flights to O’Hare per week via 65-seat aircraft.

The city must submit its recommendation to the DOT by May 30. The current contract expires Oct. 1.
