Cape Girardeau man charged with assault after victim struck with handgun

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., (KBSI) — A 34-year-old Cape Girardeau man has been arrested and charged in connection with an assault that left a victim with a serious head injury.
Brandon Blagg was taken into custody Thursday night, about six hours after the assault was reported in the 1900 block of Goodhope Street.
According to police, Blagg struck the victim in the head with a handgun during a conversation in Blagg’s garage.
The victim was treated for a large laceration to the head.
Blagg has been charged with first-degree assault, armed criminal action and unlawful possession of a firearm. He is being held on $50,000 cash-only bond.
As with all criminal cases, Blagg is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
