CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KBSI) – Those interested in learning about the local police department can register to participate in a free class.

Have you ever been interested in learning about your local police department? The Cape Girardeau Police Department offers a Citizens Police Academy (CPS) class to give a personal insight into each division and lots of hands-on experiences.

In addition to the scheduled classes, a “ride-along” with our patrol officers will be made available to those wishing to do so.

The Spring CPA Session will start on April 4 and run through May 30.

The classes occur once a week, (typically) Thursdays from 6-8 p.m. at the Cape Girardeau Police Department.

Attendess must be 18 or older and complete an application process along with a background check.

Attendees must work or reside in Cape Girardeau.

Class sizes are limited.
