Cape Girardeau police identify suspect in April stabbing incident

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., (KBSI) — Lizandro Sanchez-Carmona, 19, of Moline, Illinois, has been charged with first-degree assault and armed criminal action, according to the Cape Girardeau County Prosecutors Office.

Sanchez-Carmona was taken into custody May 15 by the US Marshals Service in Moline and is being held without bond, awaiting extradition.

The charges stem from a stabbing incident April 20 at the AC Brase Arena. A victim suffered multiple puncture wounds and was hospitalized.

Witnesses reported a verbal argument escalated into the stabbing. The suspect fled before officers arrived.

The Cape Girardeau Police Department reminds that a criminal charge is an accusation, and defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
