Cape Girardeau police investigate fatal shooting

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., (KBSI) — Police responded to a report of shots fired Friday at a residence in the 1500-block of Whitener, where they found one person with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the leg.

A second victim, 22-year-old Micah Ledbetter, of Cape Girardeau, arrived at a hospital with a gunshot wound and later died.

The Cape Girardeau/Bollinger County Major Case Squad was activated and identified Deandra Leeann Patterson, 27, of Cape Girardeau, as a suspect.

Patterson was charged with second-degree murder, armed criminal action and unlawful possession of a firearm. She is being held on a $1 million cash-only bond. It was found Patterson had a self-inflicted gun shot wound.

Police say they are confident all suspects connected to the homicide are in custody and no further arrests are anticipated.
