Carbondale police investigating shooting on South Emerald Street

CARBONDALE, Ill., (KBSI) — Carbondale Police are investigating a shooting in the 200 block of South Emerald Street.

According to a public alert issued by the department, there is no known threat to the public at this time.

Police responded to reports of shots fired around 11:38 p.m. Tuesday and sent an alert to residents shortly after. One person of interest is in custody, authorities said.

The public is asked to avoid the area as the investigation continues. Additional information will be released as it becomes available.
