City of Cape Girardeau Fourth of July schedule and safety tips

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KBSI) – The City of Cape is reminding citizens to use caution when using fireworks this Fourth of July and gives a list of events happening for the Fourth.
Citizens are highly encouraged to use extreme caution while using fireworks.
Keep fireworks away from structures, have water nearby, and “wet down” discarded fireworks. Remember to call 911 if you see a fire.
July 4 Facility Hours
- City Hall and other administrative offices will be closed
- Osage Centre: 5 a.m. – 4 p.m.
- SportsPlex: Closed
- Shawnee Park Center: 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.
- Arena: Closed
- Cape Splash: 11 a.m. – 6 p.m.
Jaycee Municipal Golf Course: 7 a.m. – 5 p.m .
Fourth at the Fort!
920 Fort Street, Cape Girardeau
At the national holiday, they would celebrate by firing their rifles and cannon and flying their flags proudly. Celebrate the birth of our nation with local living history reenactors at Fort D on the Fourth from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The stone building blockhouse with its interpretive displays on life during the Civil War will also be open for visitors on the 4th.Admission is always free.
Great American 4th of July Celebration
Celebrate our nation’s birthday with spectacular fireworks show at Arena Park!
Program and Entertainment (Approximate)
- 6:30 p.m. – Arena Park opens
- 7 p.m. – Naturalization ceremony followed by Spirit of America Award and Patriotic Program
- 8 p.m. – Cape Girardeau Municipal Band
- 8:30 p.m. – Mayor Stacy Kinder
- 8:40 p.m. – Southeast Missourian Spirit of America Presentation
- 9:10 p.m. – Fireworks begin
