City of Cape Girardeau warns about scam calls

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KBSI) – The City of Cape Girardeau alerts the public to scam callers demanding money and threatening to turn off city services.

Gayle Conrad with the City of Cape says the City Utility Billing office will never call you to demand payment.

“We ask you that if you do receive one of these calls to hang up, don’t except the call and immediately call the utility office and let us know,” said Gayle Conrad, the director of Citizen Services for the City of Cape Girardeau.

Payments are due the same time every month, and disconnect notices are sent by mail or e-mail in addition to the monthly bill.
