Collinsville man facing weapons, battery charges after Carbondale police called about fight

CARBONDALE, Ill. (KBSI) – A Collinsville man faces firearms charges after police responded to a fight in Carbondale.

Jose Rojas-Villa, 24, of Collinsville, faces charges of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, reckless discharge of a firearm, and battery.

City of Carbondale police officers responded to the 900 block of East Park Street at 2:52 a.m. on October 7 regarding a report of a disturbance.

Officers learned there had been a fight in which someone was battered. During the fight, a firearm was discharged.

There was a large social gathering in the area. No one was injured as a result of the gunshot.

Rojas-Villa was taken to the Jackson County Jail.

The investigation remains active and ongoing.
