Community program donates free roof

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KBSI) – A Cape Girardeau resident will receive a free roof provided by the Covering the Community Program.

Nick Reynolds is the Branch Manager for Reeds Metals in Scott City, and he says one of the hardest parts about the program is picking just one person. Residents in the area are able to nominate people through the Reeds Metals website who need a new roof but because of hardship can’t purchase one on their own.

Its pretty tough actually. It’s probably one of the hardest things we do all year because we get a lot of nominations through our website,” says Reynolds.

The winner nominated this year is Vicki Duckworth of Cape Girardeau.

Over 180 homes were nominated over all Reeds Metals branches.

While Reeds Metals is donating the supplies, Daniels Roofing is donating their time to put the roof on.

Daniels roofing says, It’s such a blessing to be able to partner with people like Reeds Metals and give back to families and veterans.”

Reeds Metals delivered the supplies on Monday, February 12, 2024, and Daniels Roofing will install the roof on Tuesday February 13, 2024.
