Community to salute 50 local veterans at honor flight send-off

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., (KBSI) — VFW Post 3838 and The Wake Foundation will host a Veterans Honor Flight Send-off Event on March 27 at the Cape Girardeau Regional Airport.
The event will honor 50 local veterans and their guardians before they depart on a trip to Washington, D.C., to visit national memorials and monuments.
The trip is provided at no cost to the veterans, thanks to the generosity of Contour Airlines, which donated two planes for the occasion.
The send-off, open to the public, will feature a procession by the Avenue of Flags, patriotic songs by the Clippard Elementary Choir, and community tributes.
The veterans will also receive light refreshments, thank-you letters, and other gestures of appreciation.
The event is scheduled for March 27 from 9:45 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Cape Girardeau Regional Airport.
The Honor Flight will depart at 11:30 a.m.
