Conservation agent talks about bear sighting in Mississippi County
MISSISSIPPI COUNTY, Mo. (KBSI) – More bear sightings found a little closer to home as a black bear was spotted in Mississippi County.
Travis Phillips, a conservation agent for the Missouri Department of Conversation got a call around 11:30 in the morning on Monday.
A gentleman who spotted a bear and took a picture on his iphone sent it to Mr. Phillips.
The bear did not bother anyone but the gentleman who took the photo also got a look of some bear tracks.
“Likely that this bear is a young male and what will happen is when they get a little bit older they get to where they have to find their own place to live,” said Phillips. “They’ll end up finding themselves in odd places such as Mississippi County just out looking for their own territory to claim as their own.”
Phillips says he doesn’t imagine the bear will stick around as he thinks he will travel back towards the Ozark area.
