Craft Show for a Cure in Cape Girardeau

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KBSI) – The first craft show for a cure event is taking place in Cape Girardeau Missouri as Mary Jackson helps raise money for cancer research such as research towards leiomyosarcoma cancer. The event runs July 6, nine a.m. to six p.m. and July 7, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Mary Jackson put together the event after being diagnosed with leiomyosarcoma cancer, she says the event “came to light because I have is Leiomyosarcoma which is an extremely rare terminal cancer less than .8% out of 1 million people will get this and so I wanted to help funding at Siteman cancer center for research.”

The event hosts many vendors, attractions, food choices, and more as the proceeds go towards cancer research.

Vendors from across the craft fair have a personal connection to the cause at hand like Misty Kuntz who says “this event means a lot to me, tomorrow actually is July 7 and I lost my mom seven years ago to brain cancer tomorrow.” Misty Kuntz then said, “so raising money for cancer is very very important to me.”

Aj Jackson is the son of Mary Jackson and he says that he really likes the event because “it really just helps out my mom and just really glad that everybody likes to just help out with everything that’s happening.” Aj says, “I just want what’s best for my mother, she’s a very nice woman, she means a lot to me and I just wish everybody can see how happy this can make her.”

You can help raise money for Cancer research by attending the craft show for a cure event in Cape Girardeau at the AC Brase Arena July 6, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and July 7, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
