Death of Charlie Kirk prompts political statements

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KBSI) – Political parties, GOP members, his family and so many more are mourning the loss of Charlie Kirk today.
Well known conservative activist and Illinois native Charlie Kirk was killed yesterday during an event at Utah Valley University.
His unexpected death has prompted political statements everywhere.
“It was a terrible tragedy and, you know, we believe that the entire nation is praying that the perpetrator of this sickening crime will be apprehended soon” says Andy Leighton, Chairperson of the Cape Girardeau County Democratic Committee.
Illinois Republicans Mike Bost, Mary Miller and Darin LaHood introduced a resolution honoring Charlie Kirk. In the resolution Bost states “The murder of Charlie kirk is a tragic reminder of just how far our nation has spiraled from the days of political discourse to the depths of political violence.”
Andy Leighton is also calling this a ‘political act of violence’.
“So, it’s hard to know what exactly to think of it, other than it is terrible political violence that we do not condone” says Leighton.
31-year-old Charlie Kirk was known for being a high-profile conservative activist and co-founded the non-profit organization “Turning Point USA“. was shot while talking with college students on Wednesday September 10, 2025, ending his life suddenly.
He leaves behind a wife and 2 children. Some GOP members are requesting for added security after the incident, as reports say they fear for their safety.
“Well, I for one, do not believe that it will promote fear, and I will not be among those who will try to generate fear from it” says Leighton. In the words of Martin Luther King Jr, the reverend, the late reverend who was assassinated himself ‘Hate cannot drive away hate, only love can do that.’
