Diaper drive to help southern Illinois families

ILLINOIS (KBSI) –The Southern Seven Health Department is giving back to southern Illinois families in need through a diaper drive.
Healthy babies can go through 8-12 diaper changes a day. That can be a strain financially on families who are already stretching their dollars.
According to Outreach Coordinator Shawnna Rhine, the Southern Illinois Health Department is asking for diaper donations throughout the month of September.
The diapers will go to families with children enrolled in the WIC and head start program throughout the seven counties in the Southern Seven Health Department serves Rhine says they accept all brands of new diapers size newborn to 6. She shares why you should donate.
“Diaper insecurity is a real problem throughout the nation, and we see it really in our lower seven counties in Illinois,” said Rhine. “Diapers can be really expensive especially if you have a lot going on with your kids and this is just a way to help families who are having trouble making ends meet.”
The diaper drive will run from September 3 through September 28.
