Essential air service contract up for bid at CGI Airport

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., (KBSI) — Six airlines are vying for the Essential Air Service contract at Cape Girardeau Regional Airport (CGI).

The airlines and their proposed routes are:

— American Airlines: to Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW) and Chicago O’Hare (ORD)
— SkyWest (United Airlines): to Houston George Bush Intercontinental (IAH) and Chicago O’Hare (ORD)
— Air Wisconsin: to Chicago O’Hare (ORD)
— Denver Air Connection: to a mix of Atlanta (ATL), Charlotte (CLT), Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW) and Chicago O’Hare (ORD)
— Contour Airlines: to Charlotte (CLT) and Chicago O’Hare (ORD)
— Southern Airways Express: to Nashville (BNA) and St. Louis (STL)

The airport is required by the Federal Aviation Administration to review proposals from other air carriers.
