Family of Cheryl Anne Scherer Begins New Chapter in Search for Answers

BENTON, Mo. (KBSI) – New devolvement in the case of Cheryl Anne Scherer, as her family announces they’ve raised enough money to pay for the remembrance marker.
They plan to put the marker up sharing Cheryl’s story in the spot where she vanished in Scott City in 1979.
She was on the job at the Rhodes Pump-Your-Own the day she disappeared. Police believe someone kidnapped Cheryl sometime before noon on that April day.
The family still has hope they will find out what happened to their sister. They want to thank the community for reaching out, and for also taking on the mission to find Cheryl.
Friends and community members call her one of their own.
We spoke to her brother and sister, sharing their thanks, and their next step in their journey to solve the mystery of what happened to their sister.
“I just want everyone to know that we appreciate all the help that we got and the money that the for the marker. But for us, this is bigger than Cheryl,” said Anthony Scherer, the brother of Cheryl, speaking on his appreciation from the community.
“We have been like I said, we’re very humbled by the response that we get any time we have any event, and for Cheryl. It’s just amazing, about the community, and how much love and support and how much they want to find her to,” says Diane Scherer-Morris, Cheryl’s sister. Describing to the community how it feels to witness their support.
