Fire destroys garage in Cape Girardeau

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KBSI) – Some Cape Girardeau residents woke to sirens Sunday morning.

A residential fire broke out early around 4:30 a.m.

The fire department was on scene for about thre-and-a-half hours.

“The department was dispatched for a fire in the backyard, of a residence, at 1215 Cousin,” said Cape Girardeau Fire Battallion Chief Brad Dillow. “The first unit got there and quickly determined when they rounded the block that there was a structure involved once they pulled up they determined it was a detached garage in the rear of the residence, they pulled a line and then quickly knocked the fire.”

The fire department says an older car in the garage was being re-conditioned and is now considered a total loss.

There were no injuries.

The fire is under investigation.
