Firefighters battle fire in Marion, IL

MARION, Ill. (KBSI) – Firefighters responded to a fire Monday morning in Marion, Illinois.
Marion firefighters responded to a report of arcing power lines on the side of a building at 1200 Tower Square Plaze at 5:18 a.m. on January 22.
Firefighters found a building filled with smoke. They forced the doors to enter and found heavy dark smoke and moderate heat conditions.
They determined the fire was in the basement of the attached building at 102 E. Main.
Firefighters forced open the door to the basement and found more heavy smoke and heat conditions.
Responding units provided additional equipment, manpower and assisted with putting out the fire, ventilation and overhaul.
The Herrin Fire Department, Lake of Egypt Fire Protection District, Carterville Fire Department, Wiliamson County Fire Protection District, Johnston City Fire Department, Marion Police Departement, Williamson County Sheriff’s Office, Marion Street Department, Marion Water Department, Marion Safety Director and the Office of the State Fire Marshal assisted the Marion Fire Department.
