Firefighters extinguish Cape Girardeau house fire

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., (KBSI) — Firefighters responded to a residential fire in the 500 block of North Street early Wednesday morning.

Crews arrived at 5:57 a.m. to find smoke coming from the residence and reports of people trapped inside. Rescue operations were initiated, but all occupants were found to have escaped the building.

The fire was extinguished within five minutes. The cause of the blaze is under investigation.

The Salvation Army is assisting the displaced residents. No injuries were reported.
