Freedom Fest supports local veterans

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KBSI) – An annual event that shows support to local veterans in need will kick off this weekend.
Saturday June 14, 2025, lots of community resources, live music from Sam Barber, food trucks, fun for the kids and so much more!
All proceeds to go to local veterans.
Preparation has started for Freedom Fest which is being held at the Cape Girardeau Century Casino in Cape Girardeau.
Kristen Pind is the volunteer coordinator for the Missouri Veteran’s home. She shares why you’re not going to want to get in on this event.
“I’m excited! Tomorrow is our second annual Freedom Fest. It is a concert fundraiser for the Cape Girardeau Veterans’ home that the Cape Girardeau Veterans home Association is putting on” says Pind.
Music meets patriotism for the 2025 freedom fest event. The goal of the event is to raise funds to support veterans.
Pind shares how the funding does that.
“It could be something like a cardinal’s game, or a new bus or the new pavilion were trying to build in the back”, says Pind. “Every dollar goes right back to the veteran’s home for the veterans that live there.”
An open-air concert, local food trucks, and an impressive lineup, activities for the kids, and so much more.
“We will have vintage now putting on their patriotic tribute at 3:30, followed by Ian Fergusen at 5:00, Gen X at 6:30 and then of course Sam Barber at 8:00.”
Pind says there are still tickets available! If you don’t want to purchase online you can also purchase tickets at the gate on Saturday for $50 each.
Pind shares they are very close to reaching their goal and all are encouraged to come join in on the fun for a cause.
“We are almost at 2,000 tickets sold and that was our goal this year was to hit two thousand” says Pind. “So come out support us and help us hit that goal.”
