Gov. Mike Kehoe signs public safety bill into law

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo., (KBSI) — Gov. Mike Kehoe has signed House Bill 2637 into law, enacting a wide-ranging public safety measure that creates new criminal offenses and updates tools available to law enforcement and the criminal justice system.

According to the governor’s office, the legislation includes provisions establishing new offenses related to unlawful tracking of motor vehicles and cyberstalking. The bill also includes measures aimed at strengthening protections for crime victims and addressing threats posed by unmanned aircraft systems, commonly known as drones.

Kehoe said the legislation will help modernize public safety efforts across Missouri, including preparations for FIFA World Cup 2026 events in Kansas City.

The bill was sponsored by Rep. John Black and Sen. Nick Schroer and received approval from the Missouri General Assembly before being sent to the governor’s desk.
