Fire near KY 408 in Graves County put out

GRAVES COUNTY, Ky. (KBSI) – The field fire near KY-408 on Friday was put out and no longer a threat to those living near KY-408 West and Meridian Road in Graves County.

Kentucky State Police and the Graves County Sheriff’s Department notified residents near KY-408 West and Meridian Road in Graves County of a field fire that was spreading toward homes.

KSP Post 1 was notified of a field fire on KY 2194 West just before 2 p.m. on Friday.

Multiple fire departments responded to assist with the control of the fire.

Due to the dry conditions and high winds, the fire spread and there was a risk that the fire could have reached homes in the area of KY-408 W and Meridian Road, according to Kentucky State Police.

Residents in the area were advised to be prepared to evacuate if necessary. However, the fire was put out and no longer a threat to homes in the area as of 9:25 p.m. Friday. Oct. 14.
