Guatemalan man trapped in industrial oven at Gilster-Marylee Cereal Plant, pronounced dead
PERRYVILLE, Mo., (KBSI) – Authorities are investigating the death of a 38-year-old man who became trapped in an industrial oven at the Gilster-Marylee Cereal Plant.
Police and emergency responders were called to the plant on Old St. Marys Road on Thursday at approximately 3:06 p.m. Despite efforts to render aid, the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
The victim was identified as Nicolas Lopez Gomez, a Guatemalan national who was working under an alias.
Perry County Coroner Meghan Ellis said the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has been contacted and will conduct an investigation into the accident.
