Illinois man barricaded in underground bunker

HERRIN, Ill. (KBSI) – A man barricaded himself inside a bunker with a victim.
On October 9th around 10:06 p.m. Deputies with the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residential panic alarm in the 14000 block of Circus Street, Herrin, Illinois.
Deputies discovered that a female was the victim of Domestic Battery.
The suspect, Brian Q. Herring, fled the residence and retreated into a concrete and steel reinforced underground bunker in the front yard.
Deputies made several attempts to get Herring to exit the bunker, including pepper spray into the bunker.
Williamson County Hostage/Crisis Negotiation Team arrived on scene and began to speak with Herring.
After a four-hour standoff the suspect came out.
Herring was charged with Domestic Battery and Resisting Arrest.
He was taken into the custody of the Williamson County Jail.
