Jackson R-2 receives grant funding to provide locally grown and nutritious foods to students

JACKSON, Mo. (KBSI) – The Jackson R-2 School District Food and Nutrition Services was awarded a grant from the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.

The grant is in the amount of $17,ooo and can be used to increase purchases of local and nutritious foods to serve to students in the district through the National School Lunch Program and the National Breakfast Program.

According to the Jackson R-2 Facebook they are interested in working with local farmers. If you know a farmer that could be interested, you can go to the Jackson R-2 School District Food and Nutrition Services Facebook Page and leave a comment on their post or message them directly.
