Kelso C-7 School District partners with SEMO to advance educator opportunities

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., (KBSI) — The Kelso C-7 School District has formed a partnership with Southeast Missouri State University (SEMO) through the SEMO Educators Advantage program, providing Kelso faculty and staff with access to academic growth and professional development opportunities.
The program offers a tuition discount on SEMO’s online programs, including undergraduate, graduate, and pathways for paraprofessionals.
This enables educators to enhance their qualifications affordably and conveniently, ultimately benefiting the district’s students and broader community.
“We are deeply committed to supporting our educators’ growth, and this collaboration gives our teachers and staff access to meaningful, affordable professional development,” said Dr. Kimberly Burger, superintendent of Kelso School District.
SEMO President Dr. Carlos Vargas emphasized the university’s commitment to partnerships and supporting local schools. “We’re excited to welcome the Kelso C-7 School District to the SEMO Educators Advantage program,” Dr. Vargas said. “At SEMO, we believe in the power of education to transform communities.”
The partnership is part of SEMO’s broader commitment to educational excellence and workforce development across the region.
By building partnerships with school districts like Kelso, SEMO aims to make higher education more accessible and affordable for educators, ultimately supporting student achievement and advancing community growth.
