Kentucky man charged with attempted murder of officer after traffic stop altercation

HOPKINSVILLE, Ky., (KBSI) — A 43-year-old Hopkinsville man has been charged with attempted murder of a peace officer and other offenses after allegedly attacking an officer during a traffic stop.
Carlo Jones was stopped by an officer on March 12 after being observed passing a vehicle on the shoulder of Old Clarksville Pike and Ft. Campbell Blvd.
When the officer approached Jones, he became argumentative and refused to provide his driver’s license.
Jones then allegedly pulled away, pushed the officer and attempted to strangle him, causing both men to fall down an embankment.
Jones has been charged with improper passing, attempted murder of a first responder, resisting arrest and menacing.
