Law enforcement search wooded area in Alexander County for missing Sikeston woman
EAST CAPE GIRARDEAU, Ill. (KBSI) – Several law enforcement and other agencies searched a wooded area of Alexander County Friday for a woman who has been missing since 2021.
It was just east of the Bill Emerson Memorial Bridge.
Shyann Morrison went missing from Sikeston on Friday, February 5, 2021.
The Sikeston Department of Public Safety along with assistance from several other agencies followed up on a tip in connection to the case.
This is the second search investigators have conducted in connection with this case. There were at least two ambulances, a lab testing vehicle and several emergency law enforcement vehicles.
There is no evidence to supposed she is dead, but “every bit of information or tips received is investigated by Sikeston DPS,” according to Sgt. Tyler Rowe with Sikeston DPS.
Sikeston DPS routinely monitors the National Missing and Unidentified Person Stystem (NamUs) for any new information or leads.
Illinois State Police, Illinois Department of Natural Resources, Eureka, Mo. Search and Rescue with four search canines, Cape Girardeau Police Department, Alexander County EMS and Sikeston DPS personnel participated in the search.
