Local leaders meet with lawmakers to discuss downtown revitalization

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo., (KBSI) — Missouri Main Street Connection Inc. hosted its annual Main Street Capitol Day on Jan. 28, bringing together over 15 Main Street communities from across the state.
Local Main Street staff and stakeholders from 17 communities, including Brookfield, Cape Girardeau and Sedalia, met with legislators to share the impact of the Missouri Main Street network on their local economies.
The Main Street programs highlighted their successful efforts in downtown revitalization, economic development and small business creation, resulting in $84.8 million of private and public investments, 83 net new businesses and 345 net new jobs in Main Street districts as of the end of third quarter 2024.
“Local Main Street organizations work diligently to support their local small businesses and create a positive influence on their community,” said Gayla Roten, state director of Missouri Main Street Connection.
