Lutheran Family and Children’s Services recognizes Child Abuse Prevention Month in April

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., (KBSI) — Lutheran Family and Children’s Services (LFCS) is observing Child Abuse Prevention Month in April by highlighting the need for intervention, support and healing for Missouri children and families affected by abuse and neglect.
In Missouri, thousands of children are impacted by maltreatment each year, underscoring the vital role of organizations like LFCS in providing safety and care.
“Child Abuse Prevention Month is an opportunity to raise awareness about the prevalence of child maltreatment in Missouri and the importance of prevention,” said Heather Wall, Director of Parenting Services.
LFCS is dedicated to building resilient families and preventing child abuse before it starts through various programs, including parenting education, early prevention services and community support networks.
Throughout April, LFCS encourages the community to support child abuse prevention efforts by learning more about its services, reporting suspected child abuse or neglect, sharing information on social media and volunteering or donating to support its mission.
