Man accused of aggravated battery, drugs in Marion, IL

MARION, Ill. (KBSI) – A Chicago man faces charges in Williamson County after sheriff’s deputies say he had drugs and a firearm.
Curtis L. Crumb Jr. of Chicago faces charges of disorderly conduct, aggravated battery and possession of adult use cannabis motor vehicle.
Williamson County Sheriff’s deputies responded to 1701 State Route 148 in Marion on June 16 at 9:55 p.m. for a report of a fight with a firearm.
While deputies were on the way, the reporting party told them the man with the firearm left the scene.
Deputies went to the Road Ranger and spoke to an employee who said he saw an argument between two females and a male in the Wendy’s lobby area.
The employee told them to leave and they went to outside to their vehicles.
A short time later, the employee said he/she saw the same people come back inside and heard them arguing.
Then, the employee saw the man pull up his shirt and a woman said, “he pulled a gun.” The man then left the store.
The female victims told sheriff’s deputies they were in line at Wendy’s when a man bumped into one of them. They told deputies he was confrontational and kept hovering over the woman and arguing.
An employee broke up the fight and the man went outside to his vehicle.
A second woman told deputies she went to the gas station side to purchase a pizza when the man walked back into the store with a silver pistol in his left pocket. She said he approached the woman and began yelling at them.
Then, deputies say he pulled up his shirt and bumped into the first female again, continuing to be confrontational by arguing and making contact.
The gas station employee told Crumb Jr. he was calling police and he left the gas station.
Sheriff’s deputies say Crumb Jr. admitted to being in a argument with two females at the gas station but denied having a firearm.
Deputies searched his vehicle and say they found cannabis, but not a firearm.
Crumb Jr. was arrested and taken to the Williamson County Jail.
