Man arrested after sheriff’s deputies say he shot gun, threatened people after fireworks shot off

GRAVES COUNTY, Ky. (KBSI) – A Clear Springs man faces wanton endangerment and DUI charges after sheriff’s deputies say he threatened people and shot a gun.

Terry Delk, 62, of the Clear Springs area faces two counts of wanton endangerment 1st degree and a charge of DUI 1st offense.

Graves County Sheriff’s deputies responded to an address on KY-301 at 9:20 p.m.  on Sunday, June 30 for a report of an armed person making threats and firing a gun.

The caller also said that the suspect allegedly pointed a firearm at people who were attending a 4th of July celebration in the area.

Deputies spoke with numerous witnesses and were told a man came to the property where the celebration was occurring, pointed a handgun at two people and told them that if they did not stop shooting off fireworks then he would be back.

Deputies say the man left the scene and drove away.

Terry Delk was identified as a suspect.

Deputies contacted Delk at his home where they say he again showed a firearm toward law enforcement when they arrived.

Delk was taken into custody.

Sheriff’s deputies say Delk was intoxicated and angry about the fireworks being discharged.

Deputy Tony Cornwell is the lead investigator of this case. He was assisted by Sgt. Garret Clark, Deputy Austin Caldwell and the Kentucky State Police.
