Man charged with assault after allegedly attempting to hit wrecker driver

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., (KBSI) — A Cape Girardeau man has been charged with first-degree assault after allegedly attempting to hit a wrecker driver with his vehicle.
According to a police report, Shane A. Crenshaw, was arrested on March 22 after an incident at a parking spot in front of 26 N. Main St., Blue Diamond Sports Bar.
The report states that a wrecker driver, employed by a local towing service, responded to a call to assist a stranded vehicle driven by Crenshaw.
After providing a jump start, the wrecker driver reportedly asked Crenshaw to pay for the service, at which point Crenshaw allegedly became agitated, rolled up his windows, and locked his doors.
The report alleges that Crenshaw then attempted to strike the wrecker driver with his vehicle, forcing the driver to move out of the way quickly to avoid being hit.
Crenshaw allegedly placed his vehicle in reverse and again attempted to strike the wrecker driver, who was forced to jump out of the way to avoid being hit.
Crenshaw has been charged with first-degree assault, a felony offense punishable by law.
