Man facing non-compliant sex offender charge after traffic stop in Williamson County

WILLIAMSON COUNTY, Ill. (KBSI) – A man faces a charge of being a non-compliant sex offender after a traffic stop in Williamson County.

Antonio D. Avant was found to be a non-compliant sex offender, according to the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office.

Williamson County Sheriff’s deputies was a vehicle traveling on Dr. Springs Road near Cambria Road committing violations of the Illinois vehicle code on November 28 around 1:10 a.m.

The deputies conducted a traffic stop. The driver was Avant. Authorities say he is a sex offender who is required to register every 90 days.
A check of Avant’s registration status discovered him to be non-compliant.

Avant was issued a citation for violation of sex offender registration a violation of 730 ILCS 150/3(a).

He was taken to the Williamson County Jail.
