Man found dead in West City; investigation ongoing

WEST CITY, Ill., (KBSI) — Authorities are investigating the death of a man found unresponsive Thursday.

Police responded to the scene at 11:14 a.m. after receiving a report of an unresponsive individual. Emergency responders confirmed the man was deceased.

The victim’s identity has been confirmed, and next of kin have been notified. There is currently no evidence of foul play.

An autopsy will be conducted by the Franklin County Coroner’s Office to determine the cause of death. The investigation is ongoing.

Agencies assisting in the response included Benton Fire Rescue, Benton Police Department, Franklin County EMA and Illinois State Police.
