Man in custody after fleeing from deputies and barricading in Sikeston residence

SIKESTON, Mo., (KBSI) —  A man is in custody after fleeing from deputies and barricading himself in a Sikeston residence.

Deputies and detectives were in Sikeston, Wednesday afternoon, looking for Aaron D. Brown who had a felony warrant out for his arrest, according to Scott County Sheriff Derick Wheetley.

Wheetley said Brown was located on the 600 block of Greer Avenue when the deputies made contact with him. Brown ran from his vehicle into a house where, Wheatley said, he then barricaded himself for roughly 20 minutes.

“His mother did arrive — it was her residence, too — and she gave us the key to get into the residence,” he said, “and we were able to take him into custody with some resistance.”

Wheetley said no one was harmed during the incident.

Brown faces charges including possession of controlled substance, driving while revoked/suspended – 2nd or 3rd offense, and resisting arrest by fleeing — creating substantial risk of serious injury/death to any person.

According to Wheetley, a second person was taken into custody for interfering. Their name and charges have not yet been released by authorities.
