Man pleads guilty to second-degree murder in Sikeston case

SIKESTON, Mo., (KBSI) — Courtez L. McGee pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in the death of a young woman near the corner of Main and Malone in Sikeston on July 3, 2022.

McGee entered his plea in Scott County Division 4 court before Judge Blake Pearson. A sentencing hearing is set for Aug. 22.

McGee was initially charged as a juvenile but was certified to stand trial as an adult in August 2022. A jury trial had been scheduled for July 14.

Co-defendant Demarcus Turner is currently in federal custody on an unrelated indictment.
