Marion PD recognizes 2023 dispatcher of the year

MARION, Ill. (KBSI) – The city of Marion has recognized a 2023 dispatcher of the year.

Dispatcher Dylon Richardson received the 2023 Dispatcher of The Year Award for going the extra mile while working for the Marion Police Department.

Dylon has been with the MPD for the last five years, starting out part-time.

Along with handling 911 calls and directing units, he has also taken on the role of communications training officer, where he instills his knowledge and skills to future dispatchers.

Dylan isn’t just a dispatcher. When he’s not working for MPD he’s assisting Williamson County Fire Protection District, the Williamson County Auxiliary, and the Lake of Egypt Fire Protection District, as well as maintaining his own business and spending time with his family.

Dylan was nominated by several of his teammates for the award.
