Martin, Tenn. man charged with 2021 murder of Army veteran

MARTIN, Tenn. (KBSI) – A Martin, Tenn. man faces several charges including murder in connection with the death of a U.S. Army veteran in 2021.

Cameron A. Taylor, 28, faces charges of first degree murder, especially aggravated burglary, possession of a firearm during the commission of a dangerous felony, unlawful possession of a firearm, and theft over $1,000.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation and Obion County Sheriff’s Office conducted a joint investigation into the suspicious death of 53-year-old Robert Vallery.

On November 12, 2021, at the request of 27th Judicial District Attorney General Tommy Thomas, agents joined the Obion County Sheriff’s Office in investigating Vallery’s death.

The U.S. Army veteran was found dead earlier that day in his family’s home on Will Dickerson Road in Union City.

During the investigation, Cameron A. Taylor was identified as the suspect in Vallery’s death.

Thursday, June 2, warrants were issued with the above charges for Taylor. Agents served Taylor, who is currently in the Obion County Jail on unrelated charges. He is being held without bond.

The Weakley County Sheriff’s Office and Martin Police Department also assisted with the investigation.
