Mayfield man arrested after sheriff’s deputies say he stole vehicle

GRAVES COUNTY, Ky. (KBSI) – A Mayfield man faces charges after sheriff’s deputies say he stole a vehicle.

Jason Garber, 47 of Mayfield faces charges of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle 1st offense, DUI 2nd offense, disorderly conduct 2nd degree, fleeing or evading police in the 2nd degree, resisting arrest as well as traffic offenses.

Graves County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a home just west of Mayfield on Sunday, May 26 around 2 p.m. for the report of possible stolen vehicle.

Deputies say Garber took a vehicle without permission.

Deputy Ben Doran and Sgt. Richard Edwards took the information and began looking for the vehicle.

They say Garber was located a short time later driving the vehicle on Mitchell Drive.

Deputy Doran tried to stop the vehicle and the driver continued for a short distance then pulled into a home on Lakeshore Drive, according to sheriff’s deputies.

They say Garber got out of the vehicle and then ran from deputies before a taser was used on Garber.

After the taser deployment, deputies took Garber into custody after a brief struggle.

Deputies determined that Garber had ingested methamphetamine earlier in the day before he was arrested.

Garber was later taken to the Graves County RC Center and later transferred to an out of county facility by Graves County Jail Staff.
