CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., (KBSI) — Mercy Southeast Missouri Hospital College of Nursing and Health Sciences has named Dr. Pamela Slaven-Lee as its next president.
Slaven-Lee was selected by the college’s Board of Trustees and will begin her new role July 6. She succeeds Dr. Steven Langdon, who recently retired after serving as president for seven years.
Slaven-Lee most recently served as chief operating officer of C3 Cares, a nurse-led community health care organization in Washington, D.C. She also previously served as provost and vice president for academic affairs at Marymount University in Virginia and held leadership positions at George Washington University.
“Mercy embodies all of these qualities,” Slaven-Lee said of the institution’s mission and values. “I’m honored to join this exceptional community and look forward to working alongside our talented faculty, staff, students and partners.”
According to Mercy, Slaven-Lee is a nurse practitioner who earned a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree and currently serves as a founding board member of Wreaths Across America. She will oversee the college’s Cape Girardeau campus, which offers nine academic programs and online learning opportunities.
Mercy officials said they expect her experience in academic leadership, enrollment growth and program development to help expand the college’s impact throughout Missouri and neighboring states.
